Keith Florian BJJ Black Belt and Cheryl Ragsdale BJJ Blue Belt
Last week, on Friday, February 11, 2011, I passed the test and was promoted to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt!
This was a major milestone for me. I intend to keep moving through the different belt levels until I achieve the ultimate goal – a black belt in jiu jitsu.
The levels are white, blue, purple, brown and then, finally black. To mark time and measure progress, stripes are awarded to let us know that we’re getting closer to achieving the next belt level.
The belt promotion test was administered by Keith Florian, BJJ Black Belt and Kenny Florian, BJJ Black Belt.
In our school, Florian Martial Arts Academy, the opportunity to test is available once a month on a Friday night.
The test is open to anyone who is ready to test. Other students, family and friends are invited to watch.
And you wonder why – according to a popular quiz – I can survive 4.5 minutes in the ring with a UFC fighter.
Luckily, we won’t be putting my MMA skills to the test anytime soon.
