Fired. Deleted. Company Name To Be Changed.
Even though Harvey Weinstein is still standing on, “…a lot of the allegations are false,” he is suffering severe punishment as the company he co-founded, can’t get far enough away from him.
When you need to get rid of a skunk — or someone acting like a skunk — you need everyone pulling in the same direction. No one wants to take on a skunk alone. “Skunks are disruptive. They create chaos and make people uncomfortable.” DramaGuru Revelation card number 12
- The Weinstein Company Board of Directors fired him.
- Harvey’s name will be stripped from the credits of TV series and movies.
- The name of the company is now tarnished beyond repair and will be changed to something new.
- Members of the Board resigned citing shame and embarrassment about being associated with Harvey.
- More women are likely to come forward. The tipping point for feeling safe to share more sordid tales has been reached.
EXCLUSIVE: “On the heels of Harvey Weinstein’s ouster from The Weinstein Company, his name is being removed from all of the company’s TV series, on which he had served as an executive producer, sources told Deadline.
The same step is expected to be taken on movie releases. Additionally, we hear TWC brass are auditioning ad agencies today that will be tasked with finding a new name for the overall production and distribution company.” source
Harvey the Emperor, stripped naked, no position and no power, can no longer say, “No one will believe you because I have more power than you.”
How quickly the tables have turned for the man who had the power of an emperor, signaling “yes” or “no” with a thumb up or thumb down gesture. Suddenly, Harvey’s words are falling on deaf ears.
In an email Harvey wrote trying to salvage the situation and avoid being fired, he said, “My board is thinking of firing me. All I’m asking is — let me take a leave of absence and get into heavy therapy and counseling whether it be in a facility or somewhere else. Allow me to resurrect myself with a second chance. source
So, Harvey knew he had a problem. Yet, it took a few women stepping into the breach, full of fear, allowing the New York Times to air their dirty laundry for everyone to see. But it worked.
Harvey needs therapy. But it’s too late in life for a man like Harvey to have any job that puts him in a position of power. Positional power is the fuel for his “problem”.
In a statement to The Times on Thursday afternoon, Mr. Weinstein said: “I appreciate the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain and I sincerely apologize for it. Though I’m trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go.” NYTimes
Now, Weinstein’s Board of Directors are working the Eddie Attack against Harvey, setting up a Baby Jane attack with a cascade of punishment that’s impacting everyone who ever worked with or for Harvey Weinstein.
Harvey has a squinty right eye and a wide left eye. If he doesn’t get things worked out, I believe he will end up with both eyes narrowed. Balance, at last. But not in a good way, unfortunately.
Wide-Eyed Harvey Wants Therapy, But Narrow-Eyed Harvey Will Resist
When a person is dealing with a secret, but now acknowledged dark side, the work to repair the emotional damage happens over time, with baby steps, two-forward-one-back and someone honest in his corner. Harvey is at the beginning of a wake-up call. I don’t think he’s hit rock-bottom yet. His wife hasn’t left him…and that could happen.
And Harvey got away with that behavior for decades. The power to set traps and have women fall into them…and receive no punishment. That must have felt intoxicating to him.
And do you really think he kept his victories and triumphs to himself? Why would he? There was so much to brag about!
How do I escape this conversation?
I’m certain some men laughed at Harvey’s antics. Some enjoyed it. Some laughed because they didn’t know what else to do. Some hoped to just, “go along with it”, until they could break away from the conversation.
These are all “transitions” people use while fishing around for a way to make a quick and safe escape from an active predator.
DramaGuru Black Belt Lesson
Harvey Weinstein is a brown belt villain, but this is a black belt lesson. Multiple attacks from multiple directions and different people are dropping on Harvey with life-changing impact. Harvey is now the outsider in the public Eddie attack on his reputation.
Harvey is stuck in the position of Skunk, a position that he chose because Skunks get respect. Skunks frighten people. But no one will ever believe that a skunk won’t spray. Harvey will definitely spray to dominate the situation whenever the mood hits him.
Harvey stays detached from his dirty deeds by taking the position of Hammerhead Shark. “Maintain distance. Treat people like objects. Not permanent. Easy to replace. I can buy whoever I need.”
Two unfriendly positions for Harvey. That’s why it took a village to take Harvey’s legs out from under him.
Hey NYTimes! That first article was a nice double-leg takedown.
